HAR Awards Scholarships
Eureka....At a luncheon held recently, the Humboldt Association of REALTORSâ announced the recipients of their local Association scholarships and the Mark Nicholson Memorial Scholarships totaling $9,200.00 in awards.
Receiving $1,500 Humboldt Association of Realtor® scholarships were Preston Sutter and Darcy Gordon. $1,250 was awarded to Darus Trutna with $600.00 each granted to Kristen Pinto and Kory Lockhart. $1,500 was awarded to Alex Hunt and Susan Slack and $750 awarded to Kyle Williams from the Mark Nicholson Memorial Scholarship fund.
Preston Sutter, a graduate of McKinleyville High School is currently in his third year at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo majoring in finance and economics with an emphasis on real estate construction.
Scholarship recipient Darcy Gordon is a 2009 graduate of Eureka High School who will be attending the University of California at Davis majoring in Architecture.
With a major in Real Estate and Property Management, Darus Trutna is enrolled at Humboldt State University pursuing a final goal of owning a leading Humboldt County property management company.
Kristen Pinto a business major at College of the Redwoods, plans to pursue a career in the field of real estate either by becoming a Realtor or getting involved with architectural or interior designing.
A recent graduate from Mckinleyville High School, Kory Lockhart plans to attend College of the Redwoods majoring in construction technologies eventually becoming a licensed contractor specializing in residential construction.
Recipient Alex Hunt is a Arcata High School graduate and is enrolled at California State University at Chico. His area of study is Construction Management with a goal of operating his own construction business.
Enrolled at Humboldt State University majoring in Environmental Resource Engineering, Susan Slack is determined to make a difference as a water resource engineer specializing in desalinization and water contamination.
Recipient Kyle Williams will be attending Cal Poly College in San Luis Obispo working towards a goal of becoming a residential designer/builder and eventually operate his own construction business.
Contributions to the Humboldt Association of REALTOR'S® scholarship fund are generated through their annual community golf tournament held in September. The Mark Nicholson Scholarship fund is derived from contributions by REALTORS® and community support.
